Over mij

Nederlands

Ik ben geboren in Nederland, in een plaats genaamd Nijmegen.
Als kind was ik al bezig met muziek en zingen.
Ik heb in verschillende bands gezeten, van Country Rock tot Rock Covers, en ik ben altijd op zoek geweest om het beste te doen wat ik kon.
Ik ben opgegroeid met Hard Rock/Metal zoals KISS, AC/DC, Iron Maiden en ga zo maar door, country was er altijd, op een dunne lijn, naast het Hardrock/Metal-ding.
Tegenwoordig woon ik in Duitsland, in de prachtige Hunsrück-regio, samen met mijn lieve vrouw Anet.
Op mijn YouTube-pagina ( @johnsmyths2068 ) heb ik verschillende covers van Country-songs en een paar Rock Ballads gepubliceerd.
Ik heb ook 2 eigen nummers uitgebracht, “Holes in my Brain” en “Cowboys never Cry“.
Als ik een nummer heb dat ik wil opnemen, ga ik altijd naar de studio van Jürgen Schulz, genaamd TonSchulz (www.tonschulz.de).

Mijn projecten

Ik heb altijd wel wat projecten om aan te werken, zoals het opnemen van video’s voor een bepaald nummer, of gewoon gaan zitten en een nummer schrijven.
Of een radiostudio bezoeken om een ​​nummer of mezelf te promoten.
Maar het hangt allemaal af van de tijd die ik kan vinden om dit soort projecten te doen, omdat ik ook een vaste baan heb als auditor voor een spoorwegmaatschappij in Duitsland.
Mijn volgende projecten zullen 2 (eigen) nummers zijn die in Nederland en ook in Duitsland moeten worden opgenomen.
Ik zal ook op televisie te zien zijn in Luxemburg en Duitsland.

I was born in March 1961 in the old town of Nijmegen and was introduced to the world of music by my parents and older brother. Although it wasn’t the kind of music I liked, it was music. My mother was more interested in classical music and my older brother liked “German Schlager” like Heino, Rex Gildo, Freddy Beck and so on. I, the poor guy, wanted to listen to hard rock (Kiss, AC/DC, Van Halen, Iron Maiden), which my mother didn’t like very much. When my wild years were over, I got more and more into country music and listened to Conway Twitty, Hank Williams, Waylon Jennings, Kenny Rogers, Tammy Wynette and so on.

As a child I always sang. Washing dishes, I sang, going to the bathroom, I was singing, always singing. My first time on stage was at the school´s end in 1972.

I didn´t do much with singing anymore, because a lack of support (I guess we´re all looking for some kind of conformation) until my wife recognized the singing talent in me and there it was, the support I had been looking for all my life. Obviously, it was country that I started singing again. The feelings for this kind of music won’t disappear or die if you grew up with it.

After one of my performances, at the 1st Country Night Linnich Ederen, I received great reviews from Keep it Country Magazine, among others. You can find me on Facebook with my own page “JohnSmythsMusic“. I recently created my own website called

I´ve recorded two of my own songs.

• one is called “Holes in my Brain” and was released in 2021 in collaboration with some well-known musicians such as Karl Schulz, Jürgen Schulz (owner of the studio) and Wolfgang Thiel.
• the other one is called “Cowboys never Cry” and was released recently (2023) in collaboration with Steve Lee Jefferson and Jürgen Lippmann.

Since 2024 I´m working a lot with Fred Weidler and we were on the road a lot together. In 2024, I was also on stage at the Country Fair in Erfurt, where I also did a radio interview with Radio Goldstar. In November there was a radio interview in Luxembourg, on Radio RGL, which was broadcasted on television in the beginning of 2025.

And who knows what 2025 will bring me, because I have already been booked for a few nice gigs like the Country Festival in Viechtach (Bavaria, Germany) and will be (again) at the Country Messe Erfurt. I´ll also be on stage at the Red Carpet Show in Wageningen in the Netherlands on Friday 19-09-2025 and perform mostly in Germany (Gerolstein, Rümmelsheim, Wolfshagen              )
